Stage/Year 3 is ready to go...
If you've followed this blog you might have noticed that the development of our Center here in Puebla coincides with the development of our Jacob. We developed the vision for the Center in our first year, started construction in year 2 and plan to greatly expand activities in year 3. Jacob was teaching his parents how to do this parenthood thing his first year, taking his first steps during year 2 and is well on his way toward vastly increasing his vocabulary this year.
Given the increasingly severe economic crisis in Mexico we will be offering very low cost simple "continental" style breakfasts in the early mornings. We anticipate that men who do still have jobs will benefit as well as some students for both of whom this may be their only meal until the evening. Weekends then we will expand our menu with some typical Mexican favorites like tacos, tostadas and nachos along with our dessert menu of pie, cakes and sweet bread. We also provide a relaxed atmosphere with music (sometimes live), reading material and movies.
We will also continue to offer our most popular classes to date: embroidery, English and chess classes. We hope to add to these sewing, healthy cooking and reading classes. The sheep, turkeys and chickens are growing and we have already received some income from the sale of a few turkeys. Unfortunately, the severe drought like none other in Mexico for the past 60 years took its toll on our organic garden with corn, alfalfa, squash, beans and cilantro.
As we have not yet reached our goal of being self-sustaining we again ask you to please prayerfully consider how you might be able to help us in our development. We have needs from small to big so any amount you may be able to contribute will be very appreciated.
