A family meal on Sonday at the Juarez family compound in San Mateo Tlaixpan. We are so grateful for this wonderful place to stay while awaiting the birth of our son surrounded by the love of family members among three generations.

Dear Friends,

I purposefully took a break from blogging here during the 40 day fast I wrote about in May. I can't say that I was totally faithful with the fast during the whole 40 days (too many group dinners and farewells) or that a whole lot of wisdom was gained. But it was a good start!

We left Puerto Escondido for Angelica's hometown in the state of Puebla on July 1. It is about a 10 hour drive but we took three days since sitting too long in one place is difficult these days for Angelica. The day after we arrived we had our first appt. with the surgeon who will do the cesarean who told us everything looks good and we can plan for an Aug. 30 or 31 birth.

Life is very different living on the Juarez family compound close to Angelica's two sisters, brother in-law, three nieces and two great nieces. Angelica's mother shares our home with us who we are grateful to God to still have with us in her 84th year. We are still trying to organize our lives here to fit into the schedules of the others even as we enjoy much conversation around the table.

In a couple weeks I may accompany a group of young people from Puebla on a JEM delegation to Chiapas which promises to be an eye-opening experience. I wish Angelica could be with me as it could provide new opportunities for us to serve together among other indigenous groups in the future. Regarding 2008, please pray with us as we make plans that will enable us to re-structure our family life to include one more.

Please keep in touch as we love to hear from you whether thru emails or comments to this blog.

Paz,

Dan & Angelica
