Dec. update from Angelica

IT IS AN HONOR TO SHARE ABOUT OUR MINISTRY OVER THE LAST FIVE MONTHS HERE IN SAN CRISTOBAL DE LAS CASAS CHIAPAS. I SHOULD START BY TELLING YOU THAT FIVE MONTHS AGO I DID NOT KNOW WHAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN WITH US, BUT GOD ALREADY HAD A PLAN FOR BOTH OF US.
WE STARTED ATTENDING A CHURCH NAMED ALAS DE AGUILA ESPECIALLY BECAUSE THEY HAVE A HEART FOR MISSIONS AMONG INDIENOUS PEOPLE AND THEY HAVE HELPED THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN PERSECUTED BECAUSE OF THEIR FAITH IN JESUS. IT IS WONDERFUL TO BE IN A BIG CHURCH WORSHIPING GOD WITH PEOPLE WHO HAVE SUFFERED SO MUCH FOR THEIR LOVE FOR GOD. THEY HAVE LEFT BEHIND THEIR LAND AND POSESSIONS IN THEIR TOWNS AND NOW ARE LIVING IN SAN CRISTOBAL. BOTH OF US ARE INVOLVED IN ACTIVITIES OF THIS CHURCH INCLUDING TEACHING THE SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS FOR THE TEENS.
THIS LAST NOVEMBER 13 I WENT TO A SMALL TOWN WITH A MEDICAL BRIGADE. WE SAW A LOT OF NEED AS IN ONE DAY WE ATTENDED TO MORE THAN 60 PATIENTS. A WOMAN WHO WENT WITH US TO CUT HAIR FOR THE CHILDREN TOLD US THAT MOST OF THEM HAVE LICE. WE ARE PLANNING TO GO BACK TO TREAT THEM. IT WAS SO GOOD TO ENCORAGE THEM AND TO SHARE THE GOOD NEWS WITH THOSE WHO DID NOT KNOW JESUS.
LAST WEEK THE SPOUSE OF THE PASTOR, THE DIRECTOR OF VOICE OF THE MARTYRS IN MEXICO, A TRANSLATOR AND MYSELF WEN T TO THE INDIGENOUS VILLAGE OF ACTEAL TO MINISTER TO THE RELATIVES OF THE PRISONERS FOUND GUILTY FOR A MASSACRE THAT HAPPENED IN 1997. JUST BEFORE LEAVING I HAD AN ACCIDENT WHEN I OPENED THE RADIATOR CAP AND THE HOT WATE R SPLASHED UNTO MY FACE. THANKS BE TO GOD THE BURNS WERE ONLY FIRST DEGREE THOUGH I AM STILL RECOVERING.
I HAVE ALSO BEEN INVITED HOST A RADIO PROGRAM ON MEDICAL THEMES ON TWO RADIO STATIONS AND RECENTLY WE MET A YOUNG MAN WHO PUBLISHES A DIGITAL CHRISTIAN NEWSPAPER AND HAS ASKED BOTH US TO WRITE A COLUMN EACH WEEK.
AS YOU CAN SEE, WE ARE BUSY AND BECAUSE OF THAT WE NEED YOUR PRAYERS AND SUPPORT. I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE A SPECIAL REQUEST FOR DONATIONS FOR MEDICINE. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE PART OF HELPING POOR DISPLACED PEOPLE WHO NEED FOOD AND MEDICINE YOU MAY SEND YOUR CHRISTMAS GIFT TO:

PALM MISSIONARY MINISTRIES, INC.
1315 CAMP SANO AVE
CORAL GABLES, FL 33146

GOD BLESS YOU AND MAY YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS WITH ALL YOUR FAMILY: ANGELICA.

Urgent Update!

Violence, threats and the sounds of revolution are in the air and occurring all around us here in Mexico. But then what else is new? Jesus said, "You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen but the end is still to come. All these are the beginnings of birth pains. (Mt. 23:6,8) What a time to have been sent to the southernmost state of Chiapas, the birthplace of the most recent revolutionary upheaval in Mexico now more than 15 years old. The tension is palpable these days and we are working together with a group from the University of Mexico to organize a forum here that will try to provide a space for dialogue among all the parties in conflict. We plead for your prayers on our behalf as well as any financial assistance you may be led to provide for our expenses.

In the midst of all this we continue to build the vision for our itinerant Bible school as we seek interested pastors, churches and other leaders with whom we can cooperate. We are putting together our curriculum, schedule for 2011 and building a library. Concerning this last item we are in urgent need before the end of this year to pay off the debts owed to various publishing houses in Latin America. Here is a summary of these debts if any would like to help us shoulder this burden:

Kairos, Argentina..........................................$5,000
Kairos (via Juan Stam), Costa Rica.............$600
Semilla (Anabaptist), Guatemala......................................$500
El Faro (Presbyterian), Mexico City..........$900
Bible Society of Mexico................................$400

Thank you for your kind attention to our urgent need. Thank you for your prayers!
