Dec. update

Dear Family and Friends,

Have you read James 2 recently where he writes about not showing favoritism? James tells a story about a rich and poor man entering a church and says if you treat them differently then he writes, "have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?" Then in vss. 5-7 he even says that God has chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith.

I was reminded of these verses in our church this morning as the pastor gave a stirring exhortation to have faith or rather allow our faith to become activated. We love the church where God has directed us because we worship side by side with indigenous people from various tribes many who have been forcibly displaced from their communities and have very little. The pastor has served these people for the past 15 years and without fear even confronting the powers that be seeking justice on their behalf. Many have left his church because of what James calls "discrimination" not wanting to worship with "poor Indians."

The pastor and his wife have welcomed us with open arms allowing Angelica to give programs on their radio station, visit indigenous communities with them and teach in their Seminary. In short, it has everything we have prayed about in seeking a ministry with whom we could serve since we were married eight years ago. We are prayerfully discerning the possibility of buying a home just outside the gate of this church. It could offer a small clinic for many of the indigenous people who also live on the grounds of the church waiting to be able to return to their communities. It is also closer to the school that has been such a blessing for Jacob and its location at the foot of some mountains offer him many opportunities to explore. Where else can you buy a two-story house for $40,000?!?

This is an opportunity to invest with us for our future in Mexico which we are sure carries with it many new adventures in Kingdom living as we serve the most poor. May God bless you at this time of year with abundant blessings.

in Christ's love,

Dan, Angelica & Jacob
