Jacob celebrates 10 months in Chiapas

Dear Family & Friends,

Yesterday we packed up once again, said good-bye to Rocablanca, and made the 10 hour trip to San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas. We decided it was a good time to make this transition as Dan had contacts lined up here this week, the last medical team is in good hands and it offers us a little time to unwind from the intensity of the last three months in Oaxaca. San Cristobal is a beautiful colonial town high in the mountains of Chiapas with much cultural diversity and an amazing array of hand woven textiles, people from around the world and very tasty food. It is named for the Spanish monk, Bartolome de las Casas, who arrived to these shores some 500 years ago to evangelize the Indians but ended up also evangelized by their simplicity and defended them from the economic exploits of the Spanish conquerors. He later became the Bishop of a large section of southern Mexico which today encompasses Oaxaca, Chiapas and part of Puebla. We would hope to have just a fraction of the impact he had in this same region.

We will write more as our conversations continue this week and we discern God's direction for our lives and ministry. Thank you for your prayers and support of our ministry in Mexico.
in the love of Christ,
Dan, Angelica & Jacob
